Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

My Family Allowance is a small family money tracker. This page explains what information the app stores and how it is used.

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account name and email address. We use that to create and identify your parent account.

If you use the app, we also store the family data you enter: kids’ names, allowance amounts, balances, transaction memos, your family page URL slug, and the shared family password hash.

How we use it

We use this information only to run the service: keep you signed in, show your family’s balances, and credit weekly allowance on schedule. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Cookies and sessions

After Google login, we set a secure session cookie so you stay signed in as a parent. On the family page, a separate cookie remembers that someone entered the family password correctly (for about seven days).

Who can see family data

Parents who sign in see their own family’s admin data. Anyone with the family URL and password can see that family’s kid totals and history. Keep the family link and password private.

Third parties

Sign-in is handled by Google. Hosting and the database run on Netlify. Those providers process data as needed to deliver their services under their own policies.

Data retention and deletion

Data stays in the database while your account and family records exist. If you want your account or family data removed, contact the site operator using the link in the footer on the home page.

Children

Kids may view balances on the shared family page. Parents control what is entered and who gets the family password. The app is meant for parents to manage allowance for their own children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
